The Kingfisher Crossbody - Vintage Monogram in Whiskey
This one's a beauty!!! Here's another Kingfisher! This bag was created from an authentic Louis Vuitton Monceau 26. The Louis Vuitton Monceau first came out in 1986 and then was re-introduced for the Spring 2013 collection. This bag in some ways is similar to a miniature briefcase and is so close to the coveted Pochette Metis. It has a structured frame, and it is divided into two compartments and has a secure brass flap closure.
The original top handle has been beautifully replaced, leaving this bag looking like brand new! Of course, the original LV D-rings were replaced with solid brass ones, and they look fantastic. I've added a gorgeous canvas shoulder strap to give it a more casual feel, and dyed the leather parts to coordinate with the handle. The bag's short handle enables you to carry it in your hand or over your wrist, in such a chic style ..... this bag is super trendy and cute!!! The date code (A21912) indicates it was made in France in November of 1992.
This bag has a handy front pocket plus another zippered pocket in the interior!! The interior of the pocket was redone when the handle was replaced, so there's a nice clean non-Vuittonite pocket that can be used!!! The edges of the bag had some rough spots, so I recoated them with the brown edge coat. I've added whiskey colored braiding to the top flap, giving this bag a unique and fun flair.
This bag measures W 10.2 x H 7.9 x D 2.8". The key is not included with the bag, but the lock is unlocked.
Please note: These are vintage bags, and will show some wear. I try to call out everything, but please make sure to look at the pictures!!
A video of this bag has been added to my Instagram stores, and will be saved in the highlights called The Kingfisher!
