The Pelican in Black Epi
This beautiful bag was created from a gorgeous authentic Louis Vuitton Epi Serie Doragon. It's in really good condition, and ready for a new owner!
The front pocket had torn on the right side, but I've riveted in place, and loved the look of the rivets so much I added them to the other side! It doesn't take away from the functionality of the pocket at all!! The back of the bag has a dent in the Epi (it is not a scratch). The front envelope flap has been stitched by hand with black leather lace, which enabled me to add D-rings to the back for added functionality. The wristlet strap tucks nicely in place when not in use. The 6-strand braided leather strap is 51" long, which makes this perfect for carrying crossbody! The size of this bag is W10.2 x H6.9 x D2.0".
The inside is in great condition, and there's a zippered pocket as well. The pocket was lined with Vuittonite (see details below) and was extremely sticky and unusable. I removed the Vuittonite, leaving a soft, flannel like pocket that won't leave residue on any of your things!!
For a video review of this bag, please see my IG/FB stories, or the highlight bubble called "The Pelican."
Please note: These are vintage bags, and will show some wear. I try to call out everything, but please make sure to look at the pictures!!
About Vuittonite: Prior to 1997, Louis Vuitton lined many of its bags with a vinyl-like material known as Vuittonite. It was used (and patented) by Louis Vuitton because its resistance to water makes it easy to clean. Unfortunately, when exposed to high heat or humidity, Vuittonite begins to deteriorate and peel away from the edges of the bag. Over time, it becomes increasingly sticky, forming a residue (which, in extreme cases, is black in color) that transfers to anything placed inside the bag.
